Sewanee Women’s Basketball Topples Berry, Ends Losing Skid

MOUNT BERRY, Ga. - The Sewanee women's basketball team took down Berry College Friday night to snap a three-game losing streak, 67-47, inside the Cage Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-Sewanee went 6-of-14 from the field in the opening quarter to lead 16-12.

-The story came in the second quarter for Sewanee. Leading 18-15 with 7:45 left in the opening half, the Purple and Gold went on a 12-2 run en route to take a 30-19 lead into the locker room.

-The Tigers pushed the lead to 21 in the third quarter thanks to a 14-2 run. Sewanee led 50-30 entering the fourth quarter.

-With the victory, Sewanee earned its first win inside Southern Athletic Association play this season.

SEWANEE KEY STATISTICS
-Sue Kim led all scorers with 17 points, 12 coming in the third quarter thanks to a perfect 4-of-4 from downtown. The senior added five assists and four rebounds.

-Bella Taylor scored 13 and contributed seven rebounds, while Kinsley Logan scored 11.

-In their previous three games prior to Friday's action, Sewanee had been struggling from the floor, but the team found their stroke at Berry, draining 27-of-59 shots (45.8 percent) from the field and an 11-of-27 mark (40.7 percent) from downtown.

BERRY KEY STATISTICS
-Alex Weems led the Vikings with 13 points and eight rebounds.

-McKenzie Smith grabbed 10 rebounds, eight on the offensive glass.

The Tigers return to action Sunday to complete their weekend trip in Georgia against Oglethorpe.
