(GREENCASTLE, Ind.) – Thomas More University senior guard Madison Temple (Cincinnati, Ohio/Anderson) became the all-time leading scorer in program history and led the second-ranked Saints to a 100-54 win over Franklin College today (Friday, December 28, 2018) on the first day of the Amy Hasbrook Memorial Tournament hosted by DePauw University inside Neal Fieldhouse in Greencastle, Indiana. Thomas More improves to 16-0 and Franklin falls to 2-8.
FIRST HALF:
· Thomas More scored the first 11 points of the game and led 27-11 after one quarter.
· The Saints extended the lead to 55-24 at halftime.
· Thomas More shot 60 percent (21-of-35) from the field.
· Temple led the team in scoring in the first half with 11 points.
· Senior forward Shelby Rupp (Milan, Ind./Batesville) had nine points and eight rebounds.
· Junior forward Emily Schultz (Melbourne, Ky./Bishop Brossart) had nine points.
SECOND HALF:
· Thomas More out-scored Franklin 29-10 in the third quarter to extend the lead to 84-34 after one quarter.
· Thomas More lead by as many as 55 points in the second half.
· With 1:25 to play in the third quarter, Temple made a lay-up to set the all-time scoring record at Thomas More.
· Temple had nine points in the half.
· Rupp also had nine points.
NOTABLES:
· Temple finished the game with 20 points and 1,791 career points to pass Abby Owings (2014-18), who scored 1,789 points, as the all-time leading scorer in program history.
· Temple also had eight assists and three steals in the game.
· Schultz recorded a double-double with 11 points and 13 rebounds to go with four blocks.
· Rupp finished the team with 18 points, six rebounds and three blocks.
· Saner had 10 points.
· First-year guard Asyah Mitchell (Kenton County, Ky./Cooper) finished with 10 points.
