Emory & Henry Women Streak to 83-69 ODAC Win Over Guilford

EMORY, Va. -- Lauren Ramsey scored a game-high 22 points, but Guilford College lost at Emory & Henry, 83-69, on Wednesday night. The Quakers dropped to 9-3 and 3-2 in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) action. The Wasps improved to 10-4, 2-2 (ODAC).

Ramsey shot 9-16 from the field and made all four of her free throws. She surpassed 1,000 career points in the fourth quarter to become the 20th Quaker to reach the milestone. Ramsey has 1,009 career points, which ranks 20th in school history. The Quakers' Julie Carini added 10 points and grabbed a game-best eight rebounds.

Kara Stafford (6-10 shooting, 4-4 on three-pointers) had 19 points and led four Wasps who tallied in double digits. Chloe Harris netted 14 points; Taylor Blevins and Jada Penn recorded 13 and 11 points respectively for the home team. 

The Wasps held a 46-36 edge at halftime, but broke things open with a 24-10 third quarter. Emory & Henry had its biggest lead, 72-48, with 9:04 left in the contest. Guilford outscored Emory & Henry, 23-13, in the final period. 

The Wasps shot 54 percent (30-56) to Guilford's 49 percent (27-55). The home club led in three-point baskets, 9-2. Guilford committed a season-high 29 turnovers and forced 20 Wasps' miscues. Emory & Henry won the battle of the boards, 31-27.

The Quakers host ODAC-foe Shenandoah on Saturday at 4:30 p.m.
