More news about: Buena Vista

Claudia Larsen, Jasmine Demers and Morgan Muhlbauer all registered double-doubles to help lift a late surge by the Buena Vista women's basketball team, as the Beavers broke open a six-point lead entering the fourth quarter en route to an 84-72 Iowa Conference road victory at Nebraska Wesleyan on Wednesday night.

Larsen, this week's Co-IIAC Performer of the Week, matched her career-high with 24 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to go along with five blocks.  She now has 39 blocks on the year which move her into sixth on the program's single-season list. Over her last three games, Larsen is averaging 22.0ppg, 11.7rpg, 5.3apg and 2.7bpg.

Demers followed with 18 points, 10 boards and five assists while Muhlbauer chipped in with 17 points and hauled in a game-high 13 rebounds.  Holly Schneider, who was coming off a season-high in points last time out, flirted with a double-double of her own with 14 points and seven rebounds while matching Demers with five dimes.

The Beavers shot the ball well from the field yet again, shooting 47 percent, and outscoring the Prairie Wolves, 48-32, in the paint.

NWU held a 19-13 lead after the first quarter and took a slim 38-35 lead into the break.  BVU came back out and outscored the Prairie Wolves, 26-17, in the third quarter to take a 61-55 lead into the fourth.  It was a 70-64 contest with just over 6:00 to play before a 12-4 run over the next four minutes put the Beavers in front by 14.  NWU was held to only four points over the game's final three minutes.

Buena Vista improves to 7-5 overall (2-1 IIAC) while the Prairie Wolves dip to 9-3 on the year (0-3 IIAC).  BVU takes the court again on Saturday afternoon for a 2:00 p.m. contest at home inside of Siebens Fieldhouse against Central College (7-6, 2-2 IIAC).
