Threes make difference, Tommie women get road win

Junior center Hannah Spaulding posted 17 points and 16 boards to lead No. 11-ranked St. Thomas Women's Basketball to Friday night's 78-54 road win at UW-Stevens Point.

Junior wing Lucia Renikoff set a new career high with 21 points, and senior Lauren Fischer contributed a season-best 14 points for the Tommies (3-1).

The visitors outscored Point 27-3 from behind the arc, and Renikoff and Fischer combined to make seven treys. UST converted 53 percent from the field and outrebounded Stevens Point 43-27.

St. Thomas built a 12-point halftime lead and extended the margin thereafter.

UST plays Saturday at Hamline (3 p.m.) to open the 18-game MIAC season.
