MILTON, Mass. – Senior Taylor Daniels (Dudley, Mass.) poured in a game-high 22 points in Nichols College's 71-62 loss to Curry College in Commonwealth Coast Conference women's basketball action Saturday afternoon at Katz Gymnasium.
Daniels also collected nine rebounds and six steals for the Bison, who shot 37 percent. Senior Brittany Donovan (Newport, R.I.) notched 11 points, three rebounds, and a pair of steals while junior Allison Cerrato (Rockland, Mass.) filled the stat sheet with nine points, nine rebounds, three dimes and two steals.
Junior Nicole Rice (Woburn, Mass.) picked up a double-double with 10 points and 15 rebounds, and she also blocked five shots for the Colonels. Sophomore Emily Irwin (Billerica, Mass.) scored a team-high 19 points to go with eight steals and seven rebounds for the Colonels, who outrebounded the Bison 45-44 and turned 24 turnovers into 26 points.
The Colonels shot 33 percent from the field and made 21 of their 26 free throws (81 percent). Nichols, meanwhile, was 11-of-19 from the charity stripe. The teams combined to go 11-of-44 from behind the three-point line (25 percent).
Curry led 11-8 after one before the Bison rallied back to tie the game at 26 at halftime. Daniels and sophomore Anna McDaniel (Taunton, Mass.) led Nichols with seven points apiece while freshman Paige Sentore (Ayer, Mass.) scored eight to lead the home team.
The Colonels outscored the Bison 32-13 in the third quarter to open up a 19-point lead after three. They went up by 10 at 6:19 following a three by Irwin, and the last basket of the frame was scored by Senatore to make it 58-39.
The lead swelled to 22 points 90 seconds into the fourth on a layup by freshman Sam Bamford (Easton, Mass.). The Bison reeled off a 12-4 run to climb to within 10 points with 1:56 to go behind nine points from Donovan.

Tonight's contest marked the 49th all-time meeting between Nichols College and Curry College. The Bison have dropped seven-straight to the Colonels and trail the series, 30-19.
