Wolves Fall at St. Lawrence

CANTON, N.Y. – The Keuka College Women's Basketball lost on Tuesday to St. Lawrence University in a non-conference game by the score of 66-40.

Keuka College (5-6, 3-4 NEAC) return to the North Eastern Athletic Conference this weekend with a pair of games in Pennsylvania. The Wolves will face Bryn Athyn College on Saturday and Penn St.-Abington on Sunday.

Katie Stuart (Tupper Lake, N.Y. / Tupper Lake) was the lone wolf in double-digits with 10 points against the Saints. A majority of her points came from the free throw line as the senior went 8-10. Overall, Keuka College struggled to shoot the ball on Tuesday. The Wolves shot 25.5% from the floor and were 0-9 from three point territory.

Keuka College scored the opening basket of the game, but St. Lawrence quickly tied the game and then took the lead. The opening layup would be the only lead of the game for the Wolves. A 12-0 run by the Saints widened the margin. In the final seconds, Abby Hess (Cortland, N.Y. / Cortland) grabbed an offensive rebound and made the put-back layup at the buzzer to narrow the gap, but St. Lawrence still led 19-11 after the first quarter.

The Wolves struggled in the second quarter. Keuka College went just 2-11 from the floor. They did add some points from the foul line, but overall the Green and Gold totaled just nine points in the frame. St. Lawrence led 32-20 at the half.

A pair of baskets by Lauren Anten (Rochester, N.Y. / Hilton) opened up the third quarter for Keuka, narrowing the margin to eight points, 32-24. St. Lawrence responded, however with a three pointer and a layup to reestablish the double-digit lead. An 11-0 run pushed the lead to 23 points, 48-25. Keuka College did not go away. They finished the third quarter with nine unanswered points, but the Wolves still trailed 48-34 going into the final quarter.

St. Lawrence secured their victory in the fourth quarter. The Saints outscored Keuka 18-6 in the quarter on their way to the 66-40 victory.
