Roeser Powers Nighthawks to Season-Series Split with Daniel Webster

Nashua, N.H. - Senior guard Katelyn Roeser (Nashua, N.H.) dishes out eight assists in an 81-70 victory over Daniel Webster College to become the program's single-season leader in assists, Saturday afternoon. For the second consecutive game Roeser flirted with a triple-double tallying 12 points and nine rebounds in addition to her eight assists. 

Sophomore Destiny Spears (Arnold, Md.) registered a game-high 23 points and 12 rebounds while first year Savannah Olsen (Battle Creek, Mich.) added 21 points and 11 boards as the Nighthawks.  First year Tina Babcock (Ayer, Mass.) added 13 points off the bench.

Amanda Dargie (Melbourne, Fla.) led the Eagles with a career-high 21 points including four three-pointers to go with six assists. Escarlin Reynoso (Lawrence, Mass.) added 18 points off the bench and Kayla Free (Quincy, Mass.) tallied eight points and five assists.

Amanda Gendron (Mt. Vernon, N.H.) Ashley England (Old Town, Maine) and McKenzie Stone (Shelton, Conn.) chipped in with seven points apiece for the hosts.

Newbury led 14-8 after one quarter only to see the Eagles outscore them 21-12 in the second to take a 29-246 lead into the half.

But Newbury answered outscoring DWC 24-18 in the third and 31-23 in the fourth and combined to shoot 54-percent over those final two periods to take control.

The Nighthawks also used muscle inside to finish with decisive advantages in total rebounds (46-33) and points in the paint (34-18).

The Eagles close the regular season with visits to Wheelock on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. and at Becker on Thursday at 8:00 p.m.

Newbury improves to 8-15 and 7-9 in conference while Daniel Webster drops to 9-14 and 7-9 in NECC action. The Nighthawks return to the hard-court on Tuesday February 16th when they host Mitchell College on Senior Night. Tip-off's at 7:00 p.m.
