Gwynedd Mercy Women Shoot Their Way To An 80-33 Win Over Cairn

GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. -- The Griffin Women's Basketball Team shot a season-best 48% from the floor in an 80-33 CSAC win over Cairn Saturday afternoon at The Griffin Complex.

Gwynedd was 33-of-68 shooting on the day, hitting six three-pointers and going 8-for-9 at the free throw line. Charlotte Kucowski and Nicole Dombrowski each led GMercyU (14-4, 8-1 CSAC) with 14 points apiece. Julianna Hoisington hit four of the six three-pointers to finish with 12 while Olivia Bradford chipped in 10.

Amie Eppolito led Cairn (5-14, 4-7 CSAC) with 10 points. Kendra Stum added eight points and a game-high nine rebounds.

After an early lead from the Highlanders, Chandler DiFebbo's steal and fast break bucket capped a quick scoring spurt for a 10-5 Gwynedd lead, forcing Cairn to call a timeout.  Later in the stanza, Eppolito hit from downtown to make it a two-point contest (12-10) before Hoisington countered with a three-ball of her own to help kick off a 14-2 run to close the first and lead 28-12 after one. GMercyU would lead 50-18 at the half.

Kucowski and Bradford led the charge on the glass, as each pulled in six. Alison Szyszko handed out a career-high five assists, while Kucowski added three blocks and three steals.

Gwynedd Mercy is back in action on Monday in a conference matchup at Immaculata starting at 6 p.m.
