Kelley scores career best in loss to Ithaca

ALFRED, NY—Sophomore Taylor Kelley (Andover, NY/Andover) scored 14 points and collected seven rebounds in an 83-64 loss to Ithaca College in the Terry S. Galanis Family Arena Saturday afternoon.
 
Sophomore McKaylee Croll (Perry, NY/Perry) paced the Saxons with 19 points and seven rebounds while junior Amanda Off (New Berlin, NY/Unadilla Valley) posted 18 points and six rebounds. Fellow junior Maddi Flint (Caledonia, NY/Caledonia-Mumford) scored 10 points and accumulated six rebounds in the contest.
 
In the first quarter, AU stayed within striking distance causing early turnovers. After the first 10 minutes the Saxons were only behind 18-13.  In the second quarter the Bombers pulled away and finished the half up 51-33.  The Saxons shot 39.4% (13-of-33) from the field in the first half.
 
AU maintained pace with the Bombers in the second half, only being outscored 32-31. All 10 of Flint's points came in the first half to help the Saxons keep within striking distance of the Bombers heading into the fourth quarter. However, Ithaca hit its stride and pulled away to an 83-64 victory.
 
The last time the Saxons lost to Ithaca by less than 20 points was February 15, 2008 when former coach Autumn McLain led the Saxons with 10 points and seven rebounds.
 
Following the loss, AU (1-11-E8 0-3) has a break until Tuesday when it travels to Rochester, NY to take on St. John Fisher College at 8PM.
