BRONX, NY --- The Lehman College (6-4) women's basketball team defeated the College of Saint Elizabeth(2-5) 78-50 in the first game of the 2015 CUNYAC Coaches versus Cancer Tournament on Tuesday afternoon at the APEX in the Bronx.
The Lightning again jumped all over the Eagles in the third quarter outscoring them 28-9. Four Lighting players tallied double figures on the afternoon. Jennifer Navaro led the way with 25 points. Amely Del Rosario netted 23. Amani Lightbourne added 15 while Karrin Walker playing her first game of the season recorded a double double by scoring 11 poinits while grabbing 11 rebounds.
Lehman jumped out to a 9-2 early on and never looked back. The advantage quickly became double digits as the Lehman ended the first quarter owning a 20-4 advantage. In the second quarter the Eagles were able to the lead down to six but the Lightning went into the locker room leading 31-21. In the third quarter it was all Lehman as the Lightning outscored the Eagles 28-9 in the period to take a 59-30 lead.
Saint Elizabeth was led by Danesha Triplett's 14 points. Team mate Deja Ingram added 10 points and a team high 12 rebounds.
The Lightning will move onto the Championship game on Wednesday afternoon at 2:00 PM. They will face the College of New Jersey who prevailed in a 59-56 victory over in state rival FDU-Florham. The College of St. Elizabeth and FDU – Florham will meet in the Noon game on Wednesday.
