MONMOUTH, Ill. - St. Norbert College opened up Midwest Conference play with a 75-51 win over Monmouth College at Glennie Gym.

The Green Knights (2-2, 1-0 MWC) hoisted up 70 field-goal attempts thanks in large part to committing just eight turnovers. St. Norbert made 30 shots for a 42.9 field-goal percentage, and had assists on 22 of its made baskets.

St. Norbert never trailed, opening up the game on a 3-pointer by Regan Carmichael en route to a 6-0 lead. The Scots rallied to tie the game at 8-8, but would never grab the lead. Rachel Hagge and Sarah Ratajczyk scored for St. Norbert on its next two possessions and the Green Knights led 16-11 after the first quarter.

The Green Knights opened the second quarter on a 9-0 run. Brianna Byrne finished a layup, followed by a 3-pointer from Jill Kleiman. Stephanie Weigman converted a layup on a fast break and Kleiman canned another jumper to five St. Norbert a 25-11 lead with 7:27 left in the second quarter. The Green Knights led by as many as 17 points in the period before leading 40-27 at halftime.

Monmouth trailed by 14 points early in the fourth quarter at 60-46, but St. Norbert went on an 11-0 run to seal the win.

Carmichael led the Green Knights with 15 points, seven rebounds and seven assists. Weigman finished with 14 points, while Kleiman added 10 points.

Monmouth, which shot 38.3 percent (18-for-47) from the floor, was led by Katie Houston's 19 points.
