More news about: Rochester

Rochester freshman center Al Leslie (Lancaster, PA/Manheim Township) has been named the Division III Rookie of the Year by D3hoops.com. It is her second award from D3hoops.com in the last week. She was named the East Region Rookie of the Year on March 16.

Leslie has accumulated post-season honors nearly at the same rate as she scored points and grabbed rebounds. She had 10 double-doubles in the season for the Yellowjackets who finished 15-10 and in fourth place in the University Athletic Association.

On Thursday, she was named an Honorable Mention All-American by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association. Earlier this year, she was named the UAA Rookie of the Year and First Team All-UAA. She is the first Rochester basketball player - female or male - to earn Rookie of the Year honors and First Team All-UAA honors in the same season. The UAA just concluded its 28th year as a collegiate conference. Leslie was the only freshman named to the WBCA All-America Team.

When she was named a WBCA All-American, she became the first Rochester women's basketball player to earn All-America honors as a freshman. A total of 11 women have earned Al-America honors in basketball at Rochester. The program began in 1970-71.
