Lynch Reaches 1000 Points in RPI's Senior Day Win

TROY, N.Y. - Senior Amanda Lynch had team-highs of 15 points, including the 1000th of her career, and 11 rebounds to lead the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) women's basketball team to a 50-36 victory over Bard College in the regular season finale for both teams. Rensselaer finishes with a 14-11 overall record and a 10-6 league mark. The Raptors drop to 4-21 and 0-16.

Lynch (Middletown, NY / John S. Burke Catholic) needed 11 points to get the milestone and she achieved it with a free throw early in the second half. She also had two assists, a block and a steal while playing all 40 minutes. Classmates Courtney Reynolds (San Diego, CA / Rancho Bernardo) and Bailei Tetrault (Cohoes, NY / Cohoes) also reached double digits in points, scoring 11 and 10 points, respectively. They both had five rebounds apiece.

Bard was led by junior Bianka Bell (Stamford, CT / Notre Dame-Fairfield), who had a game-high 16 points with nine rebounds. Classmate Tytravia Riley (Miami, FL / Gulliver Prep) added a double-double of 10 points and 13 rebounds in 29 minutes.

The Engineers took control of the game in the first half as they held the Raptors to just 3 of 26 (11.5%) shooting and forcing 13 turnovers. Lynch and Reynolds each had eight points at the break, which saw the home team with a 26-9 lead. Bard outscored Rensselaer by three in the second half, 27-24, but it wasn't enough. Bell had 12 second half points, while Lynch and Ashley Clough (West Chesterfield, NH / Keene) had seven apiece for RPI.
