Anderson Scores Career-High 28 as R-MC Falls to Lynchburg

ASHLAND, Va. – Junior Katie Anderson (Beaverdam, Va./Patrick Henry) recorded her 12th double-double of the season with 12 rebounds and a career-high 28 points as the Randolph-Macon women's basketball team dropped a 73-62 decision to Lynchburg in ODAC action Saturday afternoon at Crenshaw Gymnasium.

Anderson hit seven field goals, sank her first three-pointer of the season and went 13 of 15 from the free throw line. She also had two assists and three steals in 35 minutes.

After each team made a basket in the first minute, the Hornets (13-6, 8-2 ODAC) scored 13 straight points to take a 15-2 lead with 13:40 left in the first period. The advantage grew to 22 at 30-8 with nine minutes left in the first half. The Yellow Jackets (15-3, 8-2 ODAC) cut the deficit to 13 at the half, trailing 37-24 at intermission. Anderson had 13 in the first half, while Chaney Forbush scored 17 for LC.

R-MC used an 18-10 run in the first 6:30 of the second period to pull within five at 47-42. The Hornets scored seven straight to push its advantage back to 12 at 54-42 with 12 minutes remaining. The Yellow Jackets again pulled within five at 58-53 with 5:45 left. LC answered with nine straight points to lead 67-53 with three minutes remaining before posting the 73-62 victory.

Junior Hannah Livermon (Powhatan, Va./Powhatan) added 13 points for R-MC.

Forbush finished with a double-double for the Hornets with 22 points and 10 boards.

Randolph-Macon returns to action on Tuesday, Feb. 3 for a 7 p.m. ODAC contest at Virginia Wesleyan.
