OLD WESTBURY, NY (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) - The SUNY College at Old Westbury women's basketball team dismissed the St. Joseph's (L.I.) Golden Eagles 77-54 Wednesday evening in a Skyline Conference showdown that helped tighten-up the conference standings for the Panthers. Old Westbury now sits at 4-6 (6-15 overall) in conference play, which is good for fifth place—one place behind the Purchase Panthers (6-4 Skyline), whom Old Westbury face on Saturday.

Meanwhile, St. Joseph's (L.I.) falls to 2-18 in all competitions and 2-8 in conference play.

Old Westbury took a strangle hold on the game early, scoring 12 of the game's first 14 points. At 12:56, the Panthers held a 19-6 lead, but a 12-5 run by the Golden Eagles brought the game back to six points at 24-18. That would be the closest St. Joseph's (L.I.) came to overtaking the lead, as the Panthers would then embark on an 18-10 run to put them up 42-28 at the half.

It was more of the same in the second half, as Old Westbury would put together a monster 30-8 run that lasted the first 15 minutes of the second half to increase its lead to 34 points—the largest of the evening. Despite allowing the final nine points of the game, the Panthers cruised to a 77-54 victory.

Old Westbury dominated from start to finish, but the win can largely be attributed to its ability to dominate in the paint (48-14) and on the fast break (30-7). The Panthers also out-rebounded the Golden Eagles 73-51, and shot significantly better from the floor—39% compared to St. Joseph's (L.I.) 22.9%.

Raven Pentz came agonizingly close to her first-career triple-double, scoring 12 points, adding 8 assists and tying a career-high 11 boards. DeAndra Scott picked up her 16th double-double of the 2013-14 campaign, collecting 24 points and 12 rebounds.

Chole Mellon and Clarissa Gallagher also contributed 11 points and nine rebounds of their own. In addition, Mellon was also credited with with a career-high six blocks. Re'auna Dorner shot 5-8 from the field off the bench to score a season-high 10 points.

Danielle Hamlin registered St. Joseph's (L.I.) only double-double, as she potted 12 points and 10 boards, while Laura Cohen contributed 15 points and nine rebounds.
