ANGOLA, Ind. – Shooting 51 percent from the field made it easy for Albion College to score a 84-63 victory over Trine University in Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association women's basketball action.

The Britons knocked down 31-of-61 shots and it was the team's second-best shooting performance of the season. Albion shot 59 percent (34-of-58) in a November victory over Dominican (Ill.) University.

"Everyone shot great," Albion Coach Doreen Carden said. "Once everybody started shooting well, it became contagious. I thought we played with a lot of confidence, a lot of energy. It was a fun and exciting game to watch."

Mikaela Bromley scored seven points as Albion forged a 14-4 lead five minutes into the game. Albion led by at least eight points the rest of the way.

"We never let down," Carden said. "We played for 40 minutes, which was nice."

Three starters scored in double figures for Albion, led by Brett de Bear which a game-high 25. de Bear, who made 10-of-15 shots, moved into fourth place on the school's all-time scoring ladder with 1,182 points. She is 33 points shy of passing Cathy Bachinski (1980-84) for third place on the list.

Bromley knocked down 5-of-8 shots to reach a career-high 17 points. Olivia Savage produced 11 points by shooting 3-of-6 from 3-point range.

Bailey Tuttle gave the Britons a spark off the bench. She celebrated the opportunity to play close to her Ashley, Ind., home by achieving her first collegiate double-double with 10 points and a career-high 13 rebounds.

Albion has three games remaining. The stretch run begins Wednesday with a 6 o'clock home game against Alma College. The Britons have designated the contest as the annual Think Pink game.
