First-place St. Mary's topples Macalester

St. Mary's kept its hold on the top spot in the MIAC standing, shooting 48% and making 9-of-17 from outside the three-point arc, to beat Macalester 75-52 in Winona.  The Scots were held to 33% shooting and were out-rebounded 47-32.

 

Macalester was paced by Erin Murray (So., Sparta, Wis.) with 11 points to go along with four steals.  Veronika Jakubovie (Sr., Maple Grove, Minn.) 10 points and a pair of blocked shots, and Emma Leyden (Sr., Berkeley, Calif. / Head-Royce) added eight points.

 

The Cardinals led 30-14 in points in the paint and 30-17 in bench scoring.  Shelby Auseth led the way with 14 points and seven boards.  Darcey Rice added 12 points and Cuortney Euerle had 10 points, eight rebounds and four assists.

 

Macalester plays at home Wednesday (Feb. 5) against Gustavus at 7:30 p.m.
