Macalester falls to Hamline

Hamline had four players reach double digits in scoring and beat host-Macalester 82-71 at the Leonard Center as the Pipers shot 48% from the field and 50% on three-pointers.  With the victory, Hamline advances to 5-13 overall and 4-11 in the MIAC.  Macalester falls to 3-15 overall, 2-13 in the league.

 

Macalester was led by Erin Murray (So., Sparta, Wis.), who finished with 20 points, seven assists and three steals with another strong all-around game.  Veronika Jakubovie (Sr., Maple Grove, Minn.) registered her third double-double of the campaign, giving her team 15 points and 10 rebounds.  Carmen Whitehead (Sr., Greeley, Colo. / West) sparked the Scots off the bench with 11 points and a couple steals.

 

MIAC scoring leader Jordan Sammons led the Pipers with 28 points to go along with 10 rebounds, four assists and four steals.  Rachel Usgaard chipped in with 15 points.

 

Mac's bench out-scored Hamline's bench 24-16.

 

The Scots are back at it Monday (Feb. 3) when they take on first-place St. Mary's in Winona.
