Altoona, PA - The Mount Aloysius women's basketball team won their third conference game in a row with a 70-59 victory over crosstown rival Penn State-Altoona on Wednesday evening in AMCC play.
Lindsy Sammarco led the Mounties with 24 points, eight rebounds and four steals. Becky Bard added 16 points and four steals, and Kaleigh Roop narrowly missed a double-double with 12 points and nine rebounds.
The game went back-and-forth in the early going and was tied at 20-20 at the 7:59 mark in the first half. The Mounties then embarked on a 20-2 run capped by an Olivia Ruppbasket with 42 seconds remaining to make it a 40-22 game, and the lead was 40-25 heading into the half.
Altoona got as close as eight points on three occasions in the second half, but the Mounties stayed strong to record the road victory.
Mount Aloysius improves to 4-3 in AMCC play and 6-7 overall with the win.
