Fast-starting Macalester tops Carleton

Macalester stormed to a 54-34 halftime lead by shooting a red-hot 74% in the opening stanza and went on to topple Carleton 80-63 Monday night in St. Paul.

 

 One game after setting a personal best with 27 points, Macalester guard Erin Murray (So., Sparta, Wis.) netted 21 points to lead the way for Macalester.  Murray went 7-for-12 shooting, including 4-for-6 on three-pointers.

 

Katelyn Kack (So., Minneota, Minn.) and Park Masterson (Fy., Poway, Calif.) each contributed 10 points and seven rebounds.  Handing out four assists each were Kack and Emma Leyden (Sr., Berkeley, Calif. / Head-Royce).

 

Macalester led 32-16 in points in the paint and out-rebounded the Knights 40-20.

 

Skylar Tsutsui netted 20 points to pace Carleton.

 

Macalester is now 3-11 overall and 2-9 in the MIAC.  Carleton is 4-10 overall, 2-9 in MIAC play.  The Scots play Wednesday (Jan. 22) at Concordia-Moorhead.
