SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico – Albion College head coach Doreen Carden indicated the quality of play may not have been the best, but she was pleased to get all of her players involved as the Britons scored a 72-38 victory over Sacred Heart Thursday night.

Albion led throughout. The Britons held a 36-14 halftime lead, and boosted by 58 percent shooting from the field in the second half, they never allowed Sacred Heart to make a run.

Brett de Bear led the Britons with 14 points and seven rebounds. Her career scoring total ballooned to 994, and she will have an opportunity to become the eighth Albion women's basketball player to reach the 1,000-point milestone when the Britons meet Defiance College in a Dec. 28 contest at Kresge Gymnasium.

Darian Payne and Khaila Royster contributed 12 and 10 points, respectively. Royster, who scored in double figures for the first time in her collegiate career, knocked down 5-of-7 shots from the field.

"It was a good game to end our trip," Carden said. "Everyone had the opportunity to play.  Hopefully this win carries over to when we get back for our holiday classic. We now have two days to enjoy our time here in Puerto Rico."
