(CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.) - The eighth-ranked Thomas More College women's basketball team set four single-game tournament records today (Saturday, November 30, 2013) as it defeated North Park University, 92-61, on the first day of the 12th Annual Julie Costello Memorial Classic presented by Barleycorn's at the Connor Convocation Center in Crestview Hills, Kentucky.

The Saints set the record for field goal attempts (78), field goals made (39), assists (30) and steals (22).

With the win, the Saints remain undefeated at 4-0 and with the loss, the Vikings fall to 4-2.

Thomas More jumped out to a 12-4 lead with 15:05 to play in the first half when junior forward Jenny Burgoyne (Cincinnati, Ohio/McAuley) made a lay-up. North Park answered with a 4-0 run to cut the lead to 12-8 on two Dominikque Williams free-throws with 14:06 to play in the half. The Saints used a 10-4 run capped by a three-pointer by senior guard Katie Kitchen (Alexandria, Ky./Campbell County) with 9:21 to play in the opening half to increase the lead to 22-12. Brittany Pittas made two free-throws with 8:11 to play in the half to cap a 5-0 run and cut the Saints' lead to 22-17. Thomas More closed out the first half on an 18-8 run to take a 40-25 lead at halftime when Burgoyne made a lay-up with two-seconds to play in the half.

The Saints opened the second half on a 46-19 run to take their biggest lead of the game at 86-44 when freshman guard Kelly McDonald (Cincinnati, Ohio/Sycamore) made a lay-up with 4:17 to play in the game. The Vikings ended the game on a 17-6 run, but it wasn't enough as Thomas More won the game, 92-61.

Burgoyne led all scorers with 20 points, while sophomore guard/forward Sydney Moss (St. Albans, W.Va./Boone County (Ky.)) and Kitchen joined in double-figure scoring with 17 and 10 points respectively. Sophomore guard Olivia Huber (Woodlawn, Ky./Newport Central Catholic) just missed double-figure scoring with nine points. Moss led the team on the boards with a game-high nine rebounds, while Burgoyne and Kitchen each added seven. Junior guard Sydni Wainscott (Erlanger, Ky./Simon Kenton) led the team in assists with seven and Burgoyne led the team in steals with six.

Thomas More returns to action tomorrow at 4 p.m. when it hosts Franklin College on the final day of the Julie Costello Memorial Classic at the Connor Convocation Center.
