No. 21/23 Juniata Hosts Eastern for Community Day

HUNTINGDON, Pa. – No. 21/23 Juniata College women's basketball returns home on Saturday, Nov. 30 to face Eastern University at 4 p.m. in the second game of a doubleheader with the men's team.  It will be Community Day in the Kennedy Sports+Recreation Center.  Admission for both the men and women's games will be free.

 

Juniata (4-0) has only met Eastern twice and holds a 2-0 advantage in the all-time series.  In both meetings, Juniata has won by an average of 18 points.  The two Eagles first met in the 2000-01 season in Huntingdon.  This will be their second showdown in Memorial Gymnasium.

 

Averaging 85.8 points per game so far this season, Juniata has held opponents to just 62.8, keeping them under 60 points in the first three games of the season.  They are led by senior Kate McDonald(Pennsylvania Furnace, Pa./State College Area).  She has put up two 20+ point performances and is averaging a double-double of 19.8 points and 12.8 rebounds.

 

Eastern (2-3) has averaged 60.2 points per game this year.  After dropping the first three games of the season, they have won two consecutive contests, one at home and one on the road.  Eastern is being led by junior Meghan Nowak.  The forward is averaging 14.4 points per game and has a team-high 39 rebounds.
