GENEVA, N.Y.—Junior forward Chloe Hayter scored a game-high 20 points to lead six William Smith College basketball players in double figures in a 92-70 victory over Keuka College in Bristol Gym tonight. Hayter notched her ninth career double-double with a game-high 16 rebounds.
The Herons (1-1) shot 46.5 percent from the floor, including 52.8 percent in the first half, knocked down 40 percent of their 3-point shots, and made 74.1 percent from the free throw line. William Smith dominated the glass, enjoying a 51-32 rebounding advantage.
Hayter led all players with 11 points and nine boards at the break.
The Herons outscored their guests 18-9 in the first five and a half minutes of the second half to stretch their lead to 23. The Storm managed to whittle its deficit down to 17 twice down the stretch, but could get no closer on its way to its third straight defeat.
William Smith will be back in action on Tuesday, Dec. 3, when they compete in the first round of the Wendy's College Classic. The tournament brackets will be announced on Sunday, Dec. 1. Keuka will be back in action at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 26, when its travels to Morrisville State for its conference opener.
