Eagles Improve to 4-0 with 86-81 Win Over Gwynedd-Mercy

GWYNEDD VALLEY, Pa. – The Juniata College women's basketball team improved to 4-0 on the year after defeating Gwynedd-Mercy 86-81 on the road Saturday. Two Eagles finished with 20-plus points in the win for the second consecutive game. Gwynedd-Mercy moved to 1-3 with the loss.

 

Senior Kate McDonald (Pennsylvania Furnace, Pa./State College Area) earned a game-high 26 points and a game-high 14 rebounds to complete her third double-double of the season.  Sophomore Paige Dennison (Easte Berlin, Pa./Bermudian Springs) had a career day.  She finished with a career-high 24 points, making 9-of-13 from the floor and added seven assists in her 37 minutes on the court.

 

Other Eagles in double-figures were junior Kelsey Livoti (Altoona, Pa. / Bishop Guilfoyle) and seniorJordan Hileman (Williamsburg, Pa. / Williamsburg).  Livoti put in 18 points, while Hileman earned 11, respectively.

 

The Eagles led most of the contest, never trailing by more than three.  They outrebounded the Griffins 38-28 and shot 59-percent from the floor.

 

Juniata remains on the road.  The Eagles head to St. Vincent College on Tuesday, Nov. 26 for a 7 p.m. tipoff.  Juniata is 3-3 all-time against the Bearcats after splitting the series 1-1 last season.
