HUNTINGDON, Pa. – The Juniata College women's basketball team is getting noticed nationally after upsetting host Messiah College at their tipoff tournament.  The Eagles are currently one of three Landmark Conference teams receiving votes in the USA TODAY Sports Top 25 women's basketball poll.

"It's always a great honor to be receiving votes for the top 25," said head coach Danny Young-Uhrich.

Juniata (3-0) has come out strong in 2013.  The 63-54 win over Messiah marked the first time in 14 years Juniata has taken down the Falcons.  They are 24-35 all-time against Messiah.

"Obviously beating a powerhouse like Messiah has given us this national recognition," said Young-Uhrich.   "That win in particular was a great win for our team and our program.  In my lifetime here at Juniata, we have never beaten Messiah.  So for me personally as an alumni and coach, the win over Messiah was a huge achievement."

The Eagles recently also set a new program scoring record in their win over Frostburg State in the home opener.  Their 111-point performance shattered the previous record of 104 set back in 1997.  They are looking to continue their success on the road this Saturday, Nov. 23 when they face Gwynedd-Mercy at 2 p.m.  Juniata is tied 3-3 all-time with the Griffins and has won the last two meetings between the two teams.
