Mavs Drop Consolation Game of Chuck Resler Tournament

ROCHESTER, NY - The Lady Mavericks played Baldwin Wallace in the consolation game of the Chuck Resler Tournament this afternoon and dropped the game (72-57).

The Lady Mavs started off slow. Halfway through through the first game the score was tied at 17 but Baldin Wallace went on a 25-12 run the close the first half. Baldwin Wallace shot a blistering (18 of 35) 51% from the field in the first half and held the Lady Mavs to only (13 of 32) 40.6%. The Mavericks struggled from behind the three-point line as they only hit on 2 of 10 from beyond the arc.

The second half was much closer between the two teams. The Lady Mavs quickly brought the deficit down to four before Baldwin Wallace ran the lead back up over double digits. The Lady Mavs continued their consistent shooting from the first half, hitting on 42.1% (11 of 26) from the field while holding Baldwin Wallace to 34.2% (12 of 35), much better than the first half. Baldwin Wallace outscored the Mavs 30-28 in the second half.

The Lady Mavs did outrebound Baldwin Wallace by a 32-28 margin, but did lose the offensive rebound battle 11-10. The Lady Mavs were hurt by their 21 turnovers as Baldwin Wallace turned that into 30 points.

Leading the Mavs offensively were Joelle Pollak who finished with (16) points while adding (4) rebounds and Morgan Howe chipped in (13) points and added (8) rebounds. Danielle Reinwald finished the game with (8) points and added (11) total rebounds.

The Lady Mavs (0-2) will return home Tuesday as they host Alfred State College at 8 p.m.
