Buffalo, NY-D'Youville College freshman center Alexis Smith (Hamburg, NY/Hamburg) scored a school record 35 points to lead D'Youville over Pitt-Greensburg 56-53 in an Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference game played in the College Center Gym.

Smith's 35 points breaks the D'Youville College women's basketball single-game record.  The previous single-game mark was 34 set by Martha Sommers Nov. 7, 1997 versus Alfred State.

Smith was 10 for 20 shooting from the floor and 15-21 from the free-throw line. The 15 made free-throws ties the program's single-game record (15, Christine Halter at Keystone; Jan. 21, 2007).  Smith also grabbed a game-high 7 rebounds.

In the first-half D'Youville was down by 17 after eight minutes of play, and the Spartans rallied with a 20-7 to close the half and only trail by 4 at halftime.  D'Youville later trailed by 10 with 13:21 to play.

Bridget Andrews (Amherst, NY/Sacred Heart) was the next highest Spartan with 9 points.

D'Youville improves to 7-14 overall, 6-8 in the AMCC under first-year head coach Dan Glover. Last season D'Youville finished 4-21 overall and 9th in the AMCC with a 3-15 league mark.

The next game for D'Youville is February 6th at Medaille. Start time is 6:00 p.m.
