Women's Hoops Score 64-46 Victory Over Mount Saint Vincent

OLD WESTBURY, NY (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) - The SUNY College at Old Westbury women's basketball team outscored the Mount Saint Vincent Dolphins 39-18 in the final 20 minutes after trailing by three at half time to earn a 64-46 conference win Tuesday evening from the Clark Athletic Center.  The win improves the Panthers (12-7) to 7-3 in conference play while sending Mount Saint Vincent (6-13) to 0-9.

Back to back field goals by Antoinette Jolly and Abigail Williams gave Old Westbury a quick 4-0 lead to open the game.  Mount Saint Vincent grabbed an 18-12 advantage midway through the first half off the power of a 14-5 run, in which Kelly Fraser contributed seven points towards.  Crystal Barnes sank a jumper for a 23-20 Panther lead with 5:43 remaining and Tanisha Montague's free throws with 3:51 left capped 6-0 Mount Saint Vincent run.  Shannon Koch nailed a jumper with 26 seconds left to send Mount Saint Vincent into the break with a 28-25 lead.

Old Westbury roared out of the second half gates with a three pointer by Clarissa Gallagher to tie the game followed by a Raven Pentz triple to put the Panthers up for good, 31-28, with 18:14 remaining.  From there, Old Westbury locked into cruise control, going up 46-35 with 10:15 left in the second half.  Old Westbury outscored Mount Saint Vincent 13-2 over the final 3:38 to win by 18 points.

DeAndra Scott posted her fourth straight double-double after recording game highs of 18 points and 10 rebounds to lead Old Westbury to victory.  Antoinette Jolly filled up the stat sheet by finishing with 12 points, eight rebounds, seven steals and five assists.  Raven Pentz added 10 points and two steals while Abigail Williams (9 rebounds), Crystal Barnes (8 rebounds) and Raven Price (7 rebounds) helped Old Westbury win the boards battle, 51-27.

Kelly Fraser paced Mount Saint Vincent with 18 points, nine rebounds, eight blocks and two steals.  Tanisha Montague dished out six assists and Andrea Sinaly chipped in with four steals. 

Old Westbury shot 31.4 percent from the field (22-70), 30.8 percent from three point territory (4-13) and 69.6 percent from the free throw line (16-23).  Mount Saint Vincent connected on 28.8 percent from the floor (15-52), 25 percent from beyond the arc (2-8) and 73.7 percent from the charity stripe.  Old Westbury scored just 13 second chance points off 23 offensive rebound and 19 points off 29 Mount Saint Vincent turnovers. 

MOUNT SAINT MARY KNIGHTS UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS: Old Westbury returns to the hardwood on Thursday (January 31) in a Skyline Conference showdown against the visiting Mount Saint Mary Knights.  Tip-off is slated for 6 p.m. from the Clark Athletic Center.
