Chelsea Vujs Notches Fifth Double-Double as Western New England Crushes Gordon

WENHAM, Mass.--Western New England shot a season-high 50.0 percent from the field and used an efficient offense to double up host Gordon, 68-34, in a Commonwealth Coast Conference women's basketball game at the Bennett Athletics and Recreation Center on Tuesday. The Golden Bears climb above .500 to 9-8 overall, including a 6-4 CCC mark, while the Fighting Scots dip to 2-15 and 0-10 in the league. Box Score

Freshman Chelsea Vujs notched her fifth double-double of the season with 11 points and a team-best 10 rebounds to lead Western New England, which held a commanding 32-16 lead at the intermission. Senior post Elena Radzikowski led all scorers with 15 points on 7-of-11 shooting from the floor.

Gordon's Lauren Kranyak had a double-double of her own with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Brooke Kratche and Skylar Bareford added nine points apiece.

After Bareford drained a 3-pointer on the opening play, Western New England reeled off 14 consecutive points for a 14-3 lead as it never trailed again.

The Golden Bears registered 22 assists on 27 field goals. Senior tri-captain Emily Savino (6 points, 5 rebounds) and junior Katie Eckert (7 points) each had five helpers.

The Fighting Scots were held without a field goal for almost nine minutes in the first half, enabling Western New England to enjoy a double-digit lead for most of the evening.

Western New England also dominated the glass, out-rebounding Gordon by a 42 to 32 count.
