Bethel topples Macalester

Macalester hosted the Bethel Royals in the first game of an MIAC women's / men's doubleheader, and were toppled by the guests 55-48.  Most statistical categories were even, but the Royals made 14-of-18 from the free throw line, compared to 7-for-15 for Macalester.

 

The Scots drop to 4-11 overall and 3-9 in MIAC play.  Bethel is 3-12 on the season, 2-10 in the MIAC.

 

Veronika Jakubovie (Jr., Maple Grove, Minn.) scored 10 points to pace Macalester.  Kyanna Jones (Sr., Brooklyn Park, Minn. / Osseo) contributed nine points, five rebounds, three assists and three steals to the cause, while Annie Drabot (So., Cedarburg, Wis.) and Erin Murray (Fy., Sparta, Wis.) also netted nine points. Murray was 4-for-5 from the floor.   Emma Leyden (Jr., Berkeley, Calif. / Head Royce) had eight points, six rebounds, three assists and a couple steals.

 

Rachel Parupsky produced 14 points, 10 rebounds and four blocked shots to lead the Royals.  Katelyn Vavra added 10 points and four steals.

 

The Scots host St. Catherine on Monday (Jan.  21) at 7:30 p.m.
