WOMEN'S HOOPS RALLY LATE IN 60-55 WIN OVER MOUNT SAINT VINCENT

RIVERDALE, NY (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) –  The SUNY College at Old Westbury women's basketball team came from behind to take a 60-55 Skyline Conference road victory from the Mount Saint Vincent Dolphins Monday evening from the Peter Jay Sharp Center.  The win moves Old Westbury to 5-6 on the season and 1-3 in conference play while dropping Mount Saint Vincent to 4-6 and 0-3.

The opening half featured three ties and two lead changes with Mount Saint Vincent going up by as many as six points on three occasions.  DeAndra Scott hit a free throw with 7:22 remaining to give Old Westbury its first lead of the game at 18-17.  Desiree Rosa answered back for Mount Saint Vincent with a layup to regain the lead as the Dolphins took a 29-23 advantage into the break.

Old Westbury chipped away at the deficit to open the second half as Scott dropped in a layup just 12 seconds in.  Mount Saint Vincent replied with an 8-2 run from 19:13 to 17:02 to grab their largest lead of the game, 37-27.  Old Westbury battled back with an 11-0 run from 8:45 to 3:32 to grab a 52-47 lead.  Raven Pentz sank a jumper with 50 seconds remaining to put Old Westbury up 58-51.  Antoinette Jolly converted a pair of free throws with 16 seconds left to keep Old Westbury up 60-53.  Mount Saint Vincent's Shanice Robinson hit a jumper with five seconds on the clock to close out the scoring.

Antoinette Jolly posted a career high 17 points and 15 rebounds to record her third career double-double to go along with five assists and three steals.  DeAndra Scott combined 10 points and 11 boards to notch her 12th career double-double.  Raven Price started her second straight game and chipped in with seven points, eight rebounds and three steals.  Raven Pentz tallied her first career block and scored eight points while Abigail Williams added eight rebounds off the bench. 

Mount Saint Vincent was paced by Tanisha Montague, who led all scorers, finishing with 18 points in addition to six rebounds four assists and four steals.  Nicole Oliver sparked the Dolphins off the bench with 10 points and 12 rebounds. 

Old Westbury shot 28.9 percent from the field (22-76), 12.5 percent from three point territory (2-16) and 42.4 percent from the free throw line (14-33).  Mount Saint Vincent hit 32.3 percent from the floor (20-62), 23.1 percent from beyond the arc (3-13) and 63.2 percent from the charity stripe (12-19).  Old Westbury enjoyed a 70-44 rebounding advantage, including 31 off the offensive glass which were turned into 17 second chance points.  Old Westbury's 70 rebounds were the most since Dec. 3, 2009, when the Panthers grabbed 69 boards against Yeshiva.  Old Westbury also scored 13 points off 20 Mount Saint Vincent turnovers. 

PURCHASE PANTHERS UP NEXT FOR OLD WESTBURY: Old Westbury returns to the hardwood for a Skyline Conference road battle on Wednesday (Jan. 9) evening, taking on the Purchase Panthers in Purchase, New York.  Tip-off is slated for 5 p.m.
