The Buena Vista women's basketball team couldn't overcome a cold shooting performance from the floor on Saturday afternoon, as it was dealt a tough 68-51 home loss to Gustavus Adolphus in the final game of this year's BVU Classic.

Senior Brooke Wehle, was the lone Beaver in double figures, shooting 4-of-8 from the field and 2-of-3 from downtown to finish with 10 points.  Freshman Lexi Fisher came off the bench and followed with eight points, including a pair of three-pointers, and also dished out three assists.  Fellow freshman Jasmine Flynn also came off the bench and added a career-high eight points.

As a team, BVU finished just 29 percent from the filed, including 5-of-27 from downtown.

Defensively, senior Tara Lehner and junior Malarie Gilley posted a team-high seven rebounds.

Gustavus connected on nearly 40 percent of their field goal attempts in the game, despite making just 2-of-10 from beyond the arc.

The Gusties led 22-9 with seven minutes to play in the first half and built the margin to as many as 16 in the period en route to a 14-point lead at the break (35-21).

Gustavus made back-to-back buckets to start the second half and extended the lead to 18 before a pair of Lehner free-throws clawed the Beavers back within 11 with nearly six minutes gone by.  The Gusties then made their only two three-pointers of the contest on their next two possessions to help spark a 9-0 run and build a 20-point lead.  They maintained that lead and led by as many as 22 with under five minutes to go.

Julia Dysthe led Gustavus with a game-high 15 points, as Kelsey Florian followed with 14.

Buena Vista is now 1-3 on the year and will continue its home schedule on Wednesday night, November 28th with a non-conference contest against Bethany Lutheran at 6:00pm.
