Zubizarreta Leads Rams to Victory on Senior Night /Play4Kay Night

Farmingdale, N.Y. - Junior guard Jeanette Zubizarreta (Bay Shore, N.Y.) hit five 3-pointers tonight to lead the Farmingdale State women's basketball team to a 54-37 non-conference victory over the College of Staten Island (9-13) on Senior Night / Play4Kay Night. The Rams improved to 14-8 with the win.

Staten Island took the lead early in the first and led until the 10-minute mark when Zubizarreta hit two straight 3-pointers to give Farmingdale a 16-14 lead. The Rams held a 23-18 lead at the break and would shoot 48-percent in the second half to cruise to the victory. Zubizarreta finished with a game-high 15 points for the night.

The game marked Senior Night for forward Dominique Cunningham (Amityville, N.Y.), guard Jasmine Davis (Freeport, N.Y.), guard Kayla Koch (Kings Park, N.Y.), guard Janel Monah (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and forward Natasha Smalls (Harlem, N.Y.). Smalls led the senior group with 10 points, five rebounds, four steals and two blocks. Junior forward Siohban Purvis (Amityville, N.Y.) scored 10 points and six rebounds in just 17 minutes played.

For Staten Island, junior guard Olivia Tierno (Staten Island, N.Y.) had 12 points and four rebounds. Junior forward Katelyn Hepworth (Staten Island, N.Y.) pulled down a team-high eight rebounds and added five points.

The Rams will now face Mount Saint Mary College on Saturday, February 18th in Newburgh, N.Y. for the final game of the regular-season. The game will determine the #1 and #2 seed for next week's Skyline Conference Playoffs.
