CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - Senior Kayla Waskow (Dunkerton, Iowa/Dunkerton) scored a career-high 28 points and broke Coe's single-game rebounds record with 20, as Coe cruised to an 85-67 win over Buena Vista Saturday at Eby Fieldhouse.

Buena Vista scored the first five points of the game and led 13-7 with 15:21 to play in the first half before Waskow went off.  Waskow scored seven-straight points, igniting a 15-2 Coe run over the next 5:14, as they took a seven point lead with 9:57 left in the first half.  The Beavers cut the lead to five on a jumper by Susan Kies with 9:34 to play, but Waskow and fellow senior Kelsey Jipp (Bettendorf, Iowa/Pleasant Valley) combined to go on a 10-2 run in the next 3:36, as Coe took a 13 point lead with 5:42 left in the half.  Buena Vista scored four-straight points before the Kohawks went on another run, this time scoring 10 unanswered points, to take a 42-23 lead with 2:03 left in the half.

The Beavers cut Coe's lead to 13 early in the second half, but couldn't come any closer than 14 when they used a 9-2 run in 2:33 with 3:40 to play.  Freshman Emma Ambrose (Davenport, Iowa/Assumption) scored the final two buckets of the game in the last :48.

Waskow earned her 28 points on 12-of-17 shooting, the eighth highest point total in school history.  Her 20 rebounds was the most by a female in school history and one shy of the most by any Coe player, as Mark Kleppe had 21 against Grinnell in 1991.  Waskow also had three assists and two steals.  Jipp joined Waskow in double figures with a career-high 15 points, while senior Leslie Ware (Des Moines, Iowa/Johnston) and freshman Megan Hayes (Bettendorf, Iowa/Bettendorf) added 10 points apiece.  Kies led the Beavers with 18 points.

Ware added a game-high six assists, as her and Waskow became the 10th and 11th players in school history to tally 200 career assists.  Jipp contributed three assists.  Sophomore Mary Halvorson (Waterville, Iowa/Waukon) tied a career-high with three blocks, while junior Caitlin Kray (Cedar Rapids, Iowa/Xavier) had two steals.  Hayes finished with a career-high three steals.  Junior Lindsey Buckles (Davenport, Iowa/West) added seven rebounds.

Coe's 85 points were a season-high, as they shot 47.8 percent from the floor.  The Kohawks held the Beavers to 32 percent shooting.  Coe outscored Buena Vista 18-9 off turnovers, 14-0 on fast break points and 26-13 off the bench.

The Kohawks, 12-4 overall and 6-1 in the Iowa Conference, travel to Cornell on Wednesday.  Tipoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. in Mount Vernon.
