Baruch Runs Past Staten Island (77-51)

The Baruch College Bearcats went on the road Saturday afternoon to defeat the Dolphins from the College of Staten Island, 77-51, in a CUNYAC contest.

The visiting Bearcats jumped out to a quick 27-8 lead and never looked back en route to improving their record in CUNYAC to 4-1 and 8-7 overall.

The Bearcats scored 38 points off of 26 turnovers by the Dolphins and dominated the boards with a 55-40 rebounding advantage.

The Dolphins (5-8, 2-2 CUNYAC) struggled shooting 23.4 percent (11-47) and scored 25 of their 51 points from the free throw line (25-38).


Jessica Dulebaled the team in scoring with 13 points and five rebounds, while Iyana Abrams(4 steals) and Folashade Akinde(7 rebounds) scored 11 points each. Sheridan Taylorfinished with a double-double of 10 points, 11 rebounds and four steals.

Kiara Johnsonscored nine points and Francess Henryhad eight points, five rebounds and two steals.

Olivia Tierno led the Dolphins in the scoring column with 13 points and five rebounds.

Baruch will enjoy a brief break in the schedule and return to action next Saturday, January 21, at 12:30 pm, with a CUNYAC road contest at Brooklyn College.
