Augsburg held the Scots to a 25% shooting figure and beat Macalester 54-39 in St. Paul.
Macalester had its two-game winning streak snapped and drops to 4-6 overall, 2-5 in the MIAC. Augsburg moves up to 6-4 overall and 3-4 in conference play.
The Auggies scored the game's first points and never trailed. Augsburg led 25-18 at halftime as Macalester was only 6-for-32 from the field. The Scots kept within striking distance with solid defensive play in the second half and trailed by five points at 37-32 with 8:33 to go before the Auggies staged an 8-1 run to open up a double digit lead for good.
Holly Schiedermayer (Sr., Waupaca, Wis.) led Macalester in scoring for the sixth time this season, finishing with 10 points. She made 5-of-8 shots from the floor. Maggie Wood (Sr., Oregon, Wis. / Madison Edgewood) had another good all-around game, contributing nine rebounds four assists and three steals.
Brittany Zins and Serenae Levine scored 14 points apiece to pace Augsburg, which snaps a four-game MIAC skid. Zins also grabbed nine rebounds.
The Scots return to their home court Saturday (Jan. 7) when they host St. Mary's at 1 p.m.
