Millikin Women Fall at Illinois Wesleyan

            The Millikin women's basketball team lost an important conference road game    at #9 Illinois Wesleyan on Feb. 8.  The Titans maintained their hold on first place in the CCIW and improved to 17-4, 9-1 while Millikin fell at 15-6, 7-3.

            With the game tied at eight, Illinois Wesleyan opened up the game with a 16-6 run.  The Big Blue then rallied to pull within four points at 27-23, but the Titans used a 10-4 run over the last five minutes of the half to build a 37-27 advantage.  Illinois Wesleyan maintained a double digit lead in second half holding on for the 13 point win.

            Illinois Wesleyan shot 55 percent from the field compared to Millikin's 40 percent.  The Big Blue struggled from three point range hitting only 2-13 (15 percent) while Illinois Wesleyan connected on 35 percent (7-20).

            Millikin left several opportunities at the free throw line on the night.  The Titans were called for 23 fouls sending the Big Blue to the line 31 times, but Millikin missed 11 free throws hitting on 65 percent on the night (20-31).

            Millikin won the battle on the boards 33-28, but turned the ball over 19 times compared to the Titans 15.

            Elise Wildman had 18 points and eight rebounds to lead Millikin.  Heather Pruemer added 16 points.  Crystal Zeigler had a team high nine rebounds.

            Stacey Arlis was the top scorer on the game leading the Titans with 26 points.  Olivia Lett had 12 points and a team high seven rebounds.

            Millikin will host Augustana on Feb. 12 at 2 p.m.
