More news about: Medaille

(Buffalo, NY) – After struggling to knock down shots in the early portion of their game against Pitt-Greensburg, the 15th ranked Lady Mavs began to find their way as they surged past the Bobcats for a (73-47) conference victory.  The win gets Medaille back on track after suffering their first conference loss on Wednesday.

After the tough start the Lady Mavs attacked the glass and began their comeback as they trailed (10-2) five minutes into play.  The comeback was fueled by the relentless rebounding of senior Amanda Sahhar (Orchard Park, NY/Orchard Park) who pulled down (11) first half boards, she finished the game with (14), including (6) on the offensive glass.  Sahhar would also contribute (13) points, (4) assists, and (3) steals in the victory.

Junior guard Meghan Dougherty (Buffalo, NY/Nichols) led all scorers with (17) points, she knocked down (6 of 9) shots from the floor, while connecting on three of her five attempts from behind the arc.  She also assisted on three buckets, grabbed a pair of boards and steals.

The Medaille bench played a big role in the turnaround as they outscored the Bobcat reserves (25-6). Junior Tanisha Travis (Fairport, NY/Fairport) led that group as  she was (7 of 13) from the floor for (14) points, she also pulled down five caroms.  The Lady Mavs also outscored Pitt-Greensburg (48-12) in the paint and won the second chance points battle (19-5).

The win pushes Medaille's record to (15-2) overall and (10-1) in AMCC play.  They will host Pitt-Bradford on Wednesday (1/26) for a critical AMCC matchup at 6:00pm.
