DOVER, Del. - Wesley College almost wiped out a 17-point deficit with a 20-6 run late in the game, but Mary Washington held on for a 64-58 win.
Cory Boyd (Point Pleasant, N.J./Point Pleasant) scored 24 points for the third time in the last four games to lead the Wolverines (7-8, 2-4 CAC), but it was not enough.
A three point play by Sarah Jones gave the Eagles (10-5, 6-1 CAC) a 53-36 lead with 10:51 to go, but Allison Beddia (New Castle, Del./Delcastle) hit back-to-back threes to start the run.
Wesley continued on the attack until a three by Boyd with 3:39 to go made it 59-56. The Eagles got a second chance bucket from Carol Dye on their next possession to make it a five-point game.
Neither team scored again until a put back by Heather Fuller (Greenwood, Del./Sussex Tech) with just 47 seconds remained made it again a three-point Mary Washington lead, 61-58. The Eagles drained the shot clock and Katie Wimmer hit a lay up with 17 seconds left to ice the game.
