Lady Hawks Outscored, 80-40, Against Cross-Town Rival Faulkner

MONTGOMERY, Ala. ---- The Huntingdon College women's basketball team fell 80-40 against cross-town rival, Faulkner University, on Thursday evening. The Lady Hawks were outscored 44-19 in the first half, and the Lady Eagles rolled in the victory by 40 points in the second period.

In the first half, Faulkner shot an impressive 15-of-30 (50 percent), to the Lady Hawks' 29.6 percent (8-of-26). Huntingdon continued its struggles in the second half shooting 8-of-35 (22.9 percent. The Lady Eagles outscored the Lady Hawks 36-21 in the final period, securing the win.

Freshman Jodi Thomas led the team with 7 points and three rebounds. Senior Ashton Salter and freshman Raven Prater each recorded 6 points in the loss. Senior Chalise Hopkins posted a team-high 8 rebounds for Huntingdon, and four points on the night.

For the game, Faulkner held a 48-33 advantage on the glass. The Lady Eagles converted 43.5 percent of its shots, hitting 27-of-62, while the Lady Hawks finished 16-of-62 (25.8 percent).

Faulkner (11-1) was led by Alissa Hargett with 19 points, including 5-of-7 from the three-point line. Faulkner's Brittney Carter added 17 points and 7 rebounds in the win.

The Lady Hawks' (3-2, GSAC 1-0) next game is against Franklin (Ind.) on Wednesday, Dec. 29, in the Huntingdon Coaches vs. Cancer Classic at Roland Arena. Tip-off is set for 10 a.m.
