Kohawks stay hot with 82-58 win over Eagles

Coe opened the game with an 8-1 lead in the first 2:28, but Edgewood battled back to make it a three-point game with 14:30 to play in the half.  With 14:16 to play in the half, senior Katilin Breitbach (Cedar Rapids, Iowa/Washington) hit just her seventh 3-point basket of her career, sparking a 17-0 Kohawk run over the next 4:10.  
The Kohawks also got five-points on the run from Kaitlin's sister, freshman Hannah Breitbach (Cedar Rapids, Iowa/Xavier) as they increased their lead to 20 with 10:06 left in the half.  Coe would never lead by less than 18 the rest of the way.
Coe scored 12 of the final 18 points of the first half, taking a 50-23 lead into the locker room.  The Kohawks shot 58.8 percent from the field in the first half, while holding the Eagles to 25.9 percent shooting.  Coe hit 7-of-15 3-point attempts, while Edgewood was just 1-of-5 from 3-point range in the opening half.
With 13:02 to play, Coe held a 26 point lead, but a 3-point basket by H. Breitbach ignited a 14-2 run over the next 5:22, increasing Coe's lead to 35 points with 7:40 to play.  H. Breitbach scored half of Coe's points during the run, as she finished with a game-high 18 points.
Junior Kylie Birkicht (Robins, Iowa/Linn-Mar) hit a 3-point basket with 3:22 to play, but that would be the final points of the game for Coe.  Edgewood scored the final 10 points of the game in 2:19.
On top of H. Breitbach's career-high 18 points on 5-of-9 3-point shooting, freshman Bobbi Boomgarden (Allison, Iowa/North Butler) added a career-high nine points on 3-of-3 3-point shooting.  Senior Sarah Anciaux (Iowa City, Iowa/City) and junior Kayla Waskow (Dunkerton, Iowa/Dunkerton) each added eight points, while senior Devvin Rolstson (Clinton, Iowa/Clinton) added seven points.
Anciaux led Coe with a game-high seven rebounds, while senior Kayla Lincoln (Maynard, Iowa/West Central) and junior Sarah Waskow (Dunkerton, Iowa/Dunkerton) had six rebounds apiece.  S. Waskow's six rebounds were a career-high, while she also had a career-high three assists.  Junior Leslie Ware (Des Moines, Iowa/Johnston) tied her career-high with five assists, while Anciaux had four and K. Breitbach had three.
Coe dominated the specialty stats, as they scored 25 points of 16 Eagle turnovers.  Coe also held a 12-4 advantage on fast break points and a 52-18 edge on the bench.
The Kohawks will return to action on Dec. 29, as they travel to Austin, Texas for the Concordia (Texas) Holiday Tournament.
