Cougars Lose at the Buzzer in Overtime

WAYNESBURG, PA (December 1, 2010) . . . The Chatham University women's basketball team fell to host Waynesburg University today in their first Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) contest of the season at the buzzer in overtime by a score of 66-64.

 

Chatham held the lead by six points going into halftime and would go up 11 points early in the second half before Waynesburg cut the lead to two points. Each time the Cougars extended their lead, Waynesburg would fight to within a few points, keeping the game close. After 40 minutes of play, the score was knotted at 55.

 

In overtime, the two teams traded basket for basket, again keeping the score close. Just as the final seconds were ticking off of the clock, Waynesburg buries a shot at the buzzer, securing the victory for the Yellow Jackets 66-64.

 

Two Cougars finished in double figures tonight. Brittany Brown (Bellefontaine, OH/Bellefontaine) led Chatham with 14 points, followed closely by teammate Lizz King (Cabot, PA/Knoch) with 13 points in the loss.

 

Chatham (3-4, 0-1) tips off against defending champion Thomas More College this Saturday, December 4th at 2 pm in their next PAC match-up.
