Stars Rally For Win Over Lake Forest

The Dominican University women's basketball team trailed 15 with just over 13 minutes to play before a three by Becky Christofferson (Summit, S.D.) ignited a 21-5 run to give the Stars a 58-57 advantage en route to a 79-70 over Lake Forest College on Friday night.

Christofferson finished the night with a game-high 29 points on 9-for-19 shooting from the field, including going 7-for-15 from behind the three-point arc.  Junior Kayla Blom (Circle Pines, Minn.) added 19 points, going 6-for-11 from the field and 4-for-7 from long distance and freshman Ashley Oliver (Bolingbrook, Ill.) chipped in 12 points to round out three players in double-figures for Dominican.

The Stars rebounded from a 27-percent shooting performance in the season opener, going 27-for-54 from the field and 13-for-28 from three. 

Dominican also held a 39-30 advantage in rebounds, but turned the ball over 20 times while creating just 14 Forester turnovers.

Sherri Dubinski led Lake Forest with 15 points.

Dominican, now at 1-1 on the season, returns to action in the Lake Forest Tip-off on Saturday, playing Grinnell College at 1:00 p.m. at Lake Forest College.
