Kean Women Cruise to 102-62 Win Over Juniata

WESTMINSTER, Md. (11/20/10) – The Kean University women's basketball team placed five players in double-figures to cruise to  a 102-62 win over Juniata College to capture the McDaniel Tip-Off Tournament Championship on Saturday afternoon.

Sophomore Naimah Clemons led the Cougars (2-0) with 24 points, eight assists and five steals while Natalie Glinsky led Juniata (2-1) with 19 points off the bench.

After Juniata scored the first bucket of the game, the Cougars went on a 17-2 run over the first seven and a half minutes of the game, as all five starters scored and rookie Emily Cristaldi led the way with seven points for the Cougars.

Glinsky knocked down back-to-back three-pointers to spark an 8-0 run for the Eagles before the Cougars used a 10-0 run to pull away en-route to taking a 21-point lead at the break (47-26)

Cristaldi led the Cougars with 11 points in the first half, while Clemons and sophomore guard Nicol Biesek each added nine points. 

The Cougars opened with a 12-0 run to lead by 33 points (59-26) less than two minutes into the second half and the final basket of the game would give Kean its largest lead with the 40-point margin of victory.

Clemons hit 10-of-15 shots from the floor, while Cristaldi added a career-high 15 points and four assists.  Biesek chipped in with 13 points, and senior Tiffany Patrick and junior Briana Winston rounded out the double-digit scorers with 12 and 11 points, respectively. 

Patrick and senior Angelica Bermudez were named to the All-Tournament team. 

The Cougars return to action on the West Coast, as they take on University of Redlands at California Lutheran University on Friday, November 26.
