LAGRANGE, Ga. - The Vikings took to day two of the LaGrange Christmas Tournament, matching up with Greensboro and taking them down 75-56 this afternoon.
Once again Braxton Benham led the team in scoring with 22-points, but his most impressive stat line was his eight assists with zero turnovers in 35 minutes of play. Sophomore Isaac Martin also boasted great numbers, adding 17 with five triples to the score.
Berry took back to Mariotti Gymnasium today for round two looking for redemption from a tough overtime loss last night. They did just that by holding Greensboro to 40% from the field, their best defensive field goal percentage all year which held the Pride to 56 total points, the lowest for a Berry opponent this season as well.
Benham was a true force today with back-to-back games over 20 points, his sharing the ball also benefited the team in the 19-point victory.
In the first half, 13 points off Greensboro turnovers and 16 second chance points boasted the Vikings to a 44-28 lead at the half and not to mention five threes from Martin and Drew Winegarden.
The second half was no different, with the Vikings leading in each category. Consistent play by the team kept Greensboro at a distance as Berry showed off their capabilities in the major win.
Berry will be back at home this week, on the 19th and 21st taking on Belhaven and Earlham in the Cage.
