More news about: Berry

MOUNT BERRY, Ga. - Men's Basketball returned home on Friday night to defeat Pfeiffer University by a resounding score of 104-80.

The Vikings were paced by five double-figure scorers that propelled them past the century mark with a season-high of 104 points. Drew Winegarden led the way with 17 points, Parker Godwin poured in 16, Jacob Morgan contributed 14, Braxton Benham tallied 13, and Canon Armstead rounded out the double-figure scoring with 12.

Berry bought the intensity from tip-off, jumping out to a 26-13 lead, courtesy of a Canon Armstead four-point play with 9:46 left in the first half. Following that bucket, Jacob Morgan joined in on the offensive barrage when he drove to the lane and finished through contact for another and-one, extending the Viking lead to 16, 29-13. Pfeiffer would respond with a late first-half run of their own, cutting the Berry lead to nine at the break, 47-38.

The Viking's hot shooting continued in the second half as Braxton Benham found Issac Martin who knocked down a big three-pointer to get the Vikings going in the second half and push the lead back to ten.

Momentum stayed on the side of the home team from there on out as Braxton Benham slashed through the lane for a thunderous two-hand slam, giving Berry a comfortable 60-44 lead with 16 minutes to play.

The teams would go back and forth with Berry enjoying a double-digit lead for the majority of the second half. Issac Martin would pay the favor back to Braxton Benham with a nice pass to set him up for a three-pointer that was the dagger in the heart of the Pfeiffer Falcons. The Vikings would preserve the lead in the final minutes and come away with a 104-80 victory, their largest margin of the season thus far.

The Vikings will be in action again on December 14 to take on the East Texas Baptist University Tigers at 4 PM ET in the LaGrange Tournament.
