The Baruch College Bearcats defeated the Privateers of SUNY Maritime 68-67 on Monday night in the ARC Arena.

The two teams played a very highly competitive non-conference contest, but in the end the Bearcats walked away winners as Adnan Bajrami scored the winning shot with 2.5 seconds left.

The Bearcats led throughout the evening and managed to build a 13 point lead at 14:34 of the second half on a three by Jehmehl Fair.

The visiting Privateers kept battling back and managed to take the lead at 62-60 with 3:07 left. They later increased their lead to three points (67-64) on a three by Mike Regan.

The Bearcats never lost their composure and quickly came back first on a Michael Richards layup with 47 seconds left to cut the score to 67-66.

The Privateers turned the ball over with 20 seconds left giving the Bearcats the possession, which they made count on Bajrami's running bank shot with 2.5 seconds left to jump ahead 68-67.

Maritime called a quick timeout and had one last shot, but Emil Purisic stole their inbound attempt to seal the win.

Fair led the Bearcats with a career-high 19 points and Mohamed Gueye, the CUNYAC Player of the Week (PDF), narrowly missed a double-double with 16 points and nine rebounds.

Ryan Donovan led the visitors with 23 points.
