LOS ANGELESCaleb Yellin-Flaherty came on strong in the second half, Jacob Adler lit it up from the outside, Ryan Kaneshiro distributed the ball well and Sydney Shipp wreaked havoc on the opposing teams' offense as the Occidental men's basketball team cruised past La Verne 86-63 at Rush Gym on Wednesday night.

Yellin-Flaherty, who missed 10 minutes in the first half with two fouls, scored 14 of his 23 points in the first 15 minutes of the second half, pushing Oxy's 45-30 halftime lead well out of reach. Yellin-Flaherty finished 10 for 15 from the field, to go along with six rebounds and three assists.

Jacob Adler played all 40 minutes, going 7 for 10 from the field, 2 for 4 from three and 6 for 7 from the free throw line for a total of 22 points. He also had five assists.

Kaneshiro, the SCIAC's leader in assists per game this season, finished with 11 assists, six points, three rebounds and two steals.

Shipp, who was named the SCIAC Defensive Player of the Week on Monday, had an impressive six steals, sparking Oxy's transition attack, and was hard to stop of the bounce, going for 23 points on 9 for 15 shooting, including 3 for 4 from three.

Kyle Dosa chipped in four points and Evan Dray had four points and six rebounds. 

Sinai Enoch led La Verne with 21 points on 9 for 13 shooting.

The Tigers forced 23 turnovers, and had a remarkable 23 assists with just nine turnovers.

Season Impact: The Tigers improve to 11-3 overall and 3-2 in SCIAC play.

La Verne falls to 0-13 and 0-5.

Next Game: Oxy is back in action on Saturday, playing Whittier at home at 2 p.m.
